Official site:

It is the time of the Napoleonic Wars.  Captain Jack Aubrey is in charge of commanding the HMS Surprise.  Jack has been given a difficult order: to pursue a French ship which has been attacking English ships.  It seems simple enough, but when the French ship attacks and badly damages the Surprise, Jack has a difficult decision to make: to give up and go home or to track the ship, attack, and risk death.  Jack chooses the latter, and he and his crew embark on a death-defying adventure that takes them to the Pacific, through stroms and surpise attacks to the Galapagos islands.
