10/22/08-note: I’ve been trying to revamp the site, plus I’ve been working. Sorry for the looooong delay and
absence. Happy October and Scary Movie Month to ya!
News 10/1/08-Somewhere, Davy Jones breathes a sad sigh. He must have known it was never meant to be. Because I have
just heard that the rumors of last summer are true, and there will indeed be a ‘Pirates 4’. Seriously. And Johnny
Depp is back as Jack. A tentative release date has been set for May 20, 2011, which is a long time from now, but I will have
to learn patience, which, if you know me, is not something I am good at. Meanwhile, I will be doing backflips for the next
few days as I sing high praises to those that be. I haven’t heard who is directing or also starring, but I hope it’s
Mr. Verbinski, even if his plate is rather full that year. He’s doing another film with Mr. Depp titled ‘Rango’,
about a pet that has various adventures. I can’t imagine who else would direct, but I wouldn’t mind Steven Spielberg
in a pinch. I also hope Mr. Bruckheimer comes back because he’s cool. We can be certain, though, that my bff Bill
will not be back, unless they do a prequel thing, because Davy is oh-so-dead. Hurrah! (see? not meant to be) Alas, Will
will also not be back, which makes me sad, because I have to admit that Will rocks my socks. It took many watchings of ‘DMC’
(I was convinced at his awesomeness before ‘AWE’), but Will is now uber super cool and he will be sorely missed.
Not Elizabeth so much though. But Will (who is now my new bff, sharing a place with Bill—sort of) is on to new things.
He’s busy being undead and fixing problems and makiing things right which another undead someone totally screwed up
once….Anywho. Mr. Depp is quite busy for the next few years, what with ‘Rango’ and ‘Pirates’
and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ with the illustrious Tim Burton. Dude, that is so awesome. Really. Tim Burton is
a genius, and it’s totally meant to be, his doing ‘Alice’. Tentative release date here is sometime in 2010.
You have probably all heard about the passing of Paul Newman Friday, which is the saddest thing I have heard in a long time.
He was just about the coolest guy ever, no joke. He was such a good man, a good actor, and he made really, really good food.
NPR.org and Roger Ebert have done really nice tributes to him; check them out. He apparently died of lung cancer, and if
I remember correctly, earlier this year someone came forward saying that he had cancer and that he was pretty sick, but such
is his mark of coolness that he negated that claim and said he was doing nicely. I’m torn between admiring him for
not wanting us to be worried or sad and remembering him as he always was, and being mad at him for lying to us. I wonder
how long he had it; no one has said yet. I’ll be in mourning the next few days (hold on while I watch ‘Butch
Cassidy’ a thousand times) and then I’ll go back to celebrating Disney’s movie line up for the next few
years. Losing someone you admire or like is always hard; there’s so much to miss about Paul: his devillishly good looks,
his sense of humor (which is hysterical), his talent, his ability to cook yummy food, his candor, his modesty (which is rare
in Hollywood, as is a 50+ year marriage), his heart of pure gold, and oh, those hypnotizing eyes. A better man is hard to
find; at least he’s entertaining heaven. There’s a bit on Ebert’s website where it gives a quote about
what he once thought should be put on his tombstone: ‘Here lies Paul Newman, who died a failure because his eyes turned
brown’. Oh, no. Not now. Not ever.

2/3/08-Woah. Ok. Slow down and back up. Big news. First off, 'Bond 22' has an official title. It's called 'Quantum
of Solace'. Which sounds really weird, I know, but that is what they have decided to call it. It's going to take some getting
used to. The title is taken from one of Ian Fleming's Bond short stories, but thankfully the movie has nothing to do with
the actual plot of the book, because if Rotten Tomatoes is correct, the book sounds painfully boring. Anyways, the next movie
picks up where 'Casino Royale' left off and the original story obviously doesn't. Rotten Tomatoes has a basic plot synopsis
for you and IGN has the actual press conference info. Next up, it seems as if the wait for Tolkien fans is over, as a 'Hobbit'
film is very much immanent. Yes Peter Jackson will be producing but it seems as if Guillermo del Toro will be directing.
He's a good choice; not Mr. Jackson, but he'll be good. His 'Pan's Labyrinth' proved that he has a good mind for fantasy.
There will be two films, probably so that they can get everything in the book on screen. The book is shorter than any of
the 'Rings' books, so I wonder why they chose to do it this way. Probably so the film won't be three hours long and a director's
cut four hours long. Like those blasted 'Rings' movies were. I tell you, they were excellent, very well done, but absolutely
too friggin' long. Geez. WAY too friggin' long. I can't sit still that long for any film. 'The Hobbit' has a tentative
release date for 2010 and 2011. A good ways off, but if you waited this long you can wait a bit longer. So yes, in case
anyone hadn't heard, the spat between New Line Cinema and Peter Jackson is over and everything is hunky dory again. And finally,
THIS is either going to excite you or make you cry. Matt Reeves has confirmed a 'Cloverfield' sequel. Not just said he wants
to do one, but has confirmed it. When it is coming we don't quite know. I hear there is a good chance that this will be
Mr. Reeves next film, but everything depends on talks with the director (Reeves), J.J. Abrams, and Drew Goddard. Mr. Reeves
has said it probably won't be done in 'Queasycam' style (i.e. the way 'Cloverfield' was filmed-realistically) and it probably
won't be another home video type film (i.e. like 'Cloverfield'), so basically not the same film but told from a different
point of view. Although he did state in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes that he was very much intrigued by this idea, so
the possibility still stands that this will be the way the sequel goes. Or might it not be a sequel at all, rather a prequel
that gives us the answers we so desire? He doesn't say; and as with any film, anything goes until they actually start filming
(or even until they finish) so what he says now might not hold up later. We shall see. I for one am jumping for joy in my
chair because I love 'Cloverfield' and a sequel sounds good to me. But this was one of those love it or hate it films; there
really was no in between. Seems like the majority of people love it, at least in the States. But overseas it has yet to
be determined. We also don't know when this will go down, so hold out for a while because I can't see it happening for another
couple of years or so. But we shall see. Rotten Tomatoes has the entire interview with Mr. Reeves; I recommend checking
it out.

11/19/07-First off, the strike has hit TV hard, and I am not a happy camper. I'm not going into too much detail about
it because you probably know all about it by now and besides I do film not TV. But it's hit '24' especially hard. Season
seven is not going to air next year and will probably not air until 2009 now. You have no idea how pissed off I am, especially
after seeing the season seven trailer. 'The Office' and other shows are ending early, and that makes me sad because I love
'The Office'. The strike is also starting to hit films too now, and 'Angels and Demons' is the first to be delayed. The
writer's rushed the script to have it in before the strike, but to no avail. Sony said that while the script was very good
it wasn't in a state to start filming yet. And the only person who is definitely a part of the film is Tom Hanks as Robert
Langdon. Ron Howard hasn't even been attatched to direct. Seems as if the film would be put on hold regardless of a strike.
Bond 22 might get delayed because of the strike as well. Paul Haggis put in his script for the film but if it wasn't polished
enough then it sits until the strike is done and someone can polish the script, which means a possible delay in the film's
release. Boo. On the plus side, much casting has been done on the film. Mayrin Villanueva has landed a role in the film.
I assume this means she is the next Bond girl....Mathieu Amalric has reportedly become the next Bond villain. I would have
picked Bill Nighy, but still. I assume here as well that Mr. Almaric is Vepser's French-Algerian boyfriend. Speaking of
Bill, the working theory that someone in filmland is very much enamored with me seems to have become no longer a theory.
While I was sick with a fever and sinus infection which included a bloody nose (needless to say, I was pretty miserable),
this someone took pity on me and released the 'Valkeryie' trailer. Oh man, it looks wicked slick. Dude. Way too awesome.
There's a lot of Tom Cruise, obviously, but also a lot of Kenneth Branaugh. It is available at Yahoo movies. Link above.
More film news; Viggo Mortensen is considering playing the lead in a biopic about Edger Alan Poe. His role? Mr. Mortensen
will be playing Poe himself. I don't see the resemblance. I believe that's all for now. I will get those reviews for you
done pronto.

11/07/07-Ok, this is not some political or religious platform site, but I really need to say something about this. Philip
Pullman who wrote the 'His Dark Materials' book series ('The Golden Compass', which looks a little silly, comes out in theaters
in December) has voiced his opinion of 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Chronicles of Narnia' books. He calls 'Rings' 'trivial'
and 'Narnia' 'unsatisfying'. Now. You know that Pullman's books are notoriously anti-Catholic and Tolkien's and Lewis' books
are very Catholic. So, do you sense some atheist evangelising here? Pullman doesn't like the way 'Rings' is written and
it's supposed lack of cleary answering the big questions about faith and life. He also doens't like the way 'Narnia' ends
the story of the Pevensie children. Ok. First off, Mr. Pullman, are you Catholic? No. So then do you know anything or
even very much about the Catholic religion? No. Do not claim that you do. Do not assume or even try to tell us that you
do. You don't. Subtlety is the thing here with these books, subtlety because these authors knew the hate that we Catholics
tend to get, and the controversy and the anti-Catholicness that would arise if the books were more blatantly Catholic. This
is not some 'Da Vinci Code' anti-Catholic schtick, where there it was more the church lies to us and is dark and corrupt (you
already know that I think that book is ridiculous and absurd). This is more the church is evil and organized religion is
bad and the church is going to ruin your life. I can't say if the books are anti-Christian or if they call for people to
embrace atheism, ('Da Vinci Code' didn't, it just said 'stop being Catholic') but truly, this is a bit ridiculous. I'm sorry
that he does not approve of Catholicism. But obviously he's writing and speaking from an ignorant and uninformed point of
view. Mr. Pullman, you know nothing about our religion. You can't sit down and write as if you do and speak as if you know
everything and you have all the answers and that you know we are evil and out to destroy the world. Doing so makes you sound
like a biased prick than an educated and well-written author. Cut it out.
I somewhat apologize for the above rant; I apologize that it took me awhile to get to the rest of the news that I had for
you, because I try to keep this website as neutral as possible (although opinion is welcome on films) and to keep politics
and such out of here because it's not that type of site. But I am not sorry to have said what I said and to defend certain
things which I believe against idiots who think they are better and smarter than the rest of us. And so. I am not sorry
if I offended you. You can tell me if I did and tell me why, but I am sorry that you won't get an apology. But note that
I respect your opinions and beliefs highly and will not do a Philip Pullman and try to condemn or rally against your ideas.
Your beliefs are your own and you are welcome to believe whatever you want. Freedom is important here. Feel free to be free
to do and think whatever.
In other less controversial news (well, that is open to opinion), this ought to get you talking if the previous paragraph
didn't. Rights have been acquired to the film 'High Noon'. Yes that very old Western with Lee Van Cleef, Gary Cooper, and
Grace Kelly. That really old Western that I didn't like but everyone else does. So you know what that means.....a 'High
Noon' remake is nigh. Oh boy. There's no director or lead actors yet. And I don't yet know when it's going to release.
But I suppose it was inevitable. In other news, Josh Lucas is the lead star in that 'Tell-Tale Heart' adaptation I wrote
about last time. And from what DarkHorizons says, it's going to be nothing like the Poe story....something about a single
dad who has a heart transplant from a man who was murdered and the dad must find the donor's killer before it's too late (I
assume that means before he's killed as well). Boo. I was looking forward to a nice take on the actual story.

11/2/07-So. Lots to catch up on. First off, the next Indiana Jones film has wrapped principal photography and the Indiana
Jones website has subsequently been expanded. I haven't checked it out yet; you can decide if it's good enough. And second,
now is the time to talk about this, who knows why I haven't before, but anyways, the cool people at CHUD have seen ye newe
J.J. Abrams monster film trailer and have given new meaning to the term 'spoiled' for your pleasure. Read if you want to
know, don't if you don't. It sounds like a very interesting film. It's apparently filmed in the same manner 'Blair Witch
Project' was filmed in, i.e. hand held cameras, to give it a real feel, documentary like. The teaser trailer for the film
is already available at Apple.com because those people are cool like that (I'm an Apple person by the way, yay Apple! Boo
PCs.). BUT. I hear tell that the official trailer is to debut in front of 'Beowulf' in a couple of weeks. I might see this,
my interest is peaked, although I hope it's not a companion to 'Lost', please people, no. I don't watch that show, I don't
like it actually. I can't really see Mr. Abrams doing that, but one of the rumors circulating is that his film is tied to
'Lost' in many ways, perhaps even an advert or something for the show. I also heard that it borrows heavily from the works
of H.P. Lovecraft and even uses a monster or two of his. We all know how much I love H.P. Lovecraft....oh wait, I've never
discussed this with you before! Ah. I hate him. I had to read him in college and I hate his stories. They are weird and
strange and sick and twisted and I hate them. I'll save you from the rest of my tirade. I really don't like him. But, I
do give him oodles of credit for his imagination; wow. How did he think up some of that stuff? And he's very influential.
But still. Ahh, but hold on, you have heard me speak of him before, yes.....in my review of 'Dead Man's Chest'. You just
didn't know my opinion of him. Mr. Lovecraft and I share a special connection. Not only have his stories heavily influenced
my dear 'Pirates' (specifically, Davy Jones....mortal enemy number one), but he also shares my birthday. See? Cursed. Well.
Anyways. We'll see about this film. Also, it seems as if David Duchovny was telling the truth all along, and there IS another
'X-Files' movie coming, and it already has a release date! At least he wasn't scraping for attention. It comes out July
25, 2008 (you conspiracy theorists can hold on) and Chris Carter is directing with Gillian Anderson coming along for the ride.
Thank you someone in Hollywood for being honest and not throwing rumors around for nothing! Kudos Mr. Duchovny for being
the honest one, shame on you 20 Century Fox for saying he was lying when he WASN'T. Shooting begins December 10. In more
geek news 'Spider-man 4' is very much in the future as well. We don't know who's directing or who's in it, but it has a scriptwriter.
James Vanderbilt, who wrote 'Zodiac', is penning the film. We know I don't care for 'Spider-man', so I really don't care.
Michelle Pfieffer has been asked to star in a remake of the cheesy but still entertaining 'Grease'. She said she's excited,
says DarkHorizons, and hopes to play the school princiapl at Rydell. Thankfully she regrets being in 'Grease 2', which I
haven't seen but am sure is quite pitiful. However, she also says that they (whoever is making the film) want Jessica Simpson
to play Sandy. OMG NO Seriously, how could she do it? There's no innocence in Jessica. It makes me want to cry. And
I'm not even a big fan of the film. There's also a fourth 'Shrek' film coming our way May 21, 2010, or at least that's the
plan. Seriously. Enough now. There is also, I hear tell, a film coming forth based on Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Tell-Tale
Heart'. Interesting. Ridley and Tony Scott (are they related, do you know?) are producing, Michael Cuesta (?) is directing
and Dave Callahan (another ?) are directing and writing the film, respectively. DarkHorizons says casting is under way and
the film is to open early 2008, but I don't see how that's possible....oh well, I'm not working on it so I don't really know.
And finally, glorious news! amongst all the unglorious news. Daniel Craig has agreed to do five James Bond films! EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Including 'Casino Royale' so he has four more to go. YAY! Thank you! Paul Haggis also said that his 'Bond 22' script is
done and turned in. La.

10/26/07-Jerry Bruckheimer says he wants to make a film about the Lone Ranger. Put out by Disney. Written by Ted Elliot
and Terry Rossio (WUT NOW!!!!). Coolness. I know pretty much nothing about the old radio and television series, but really,
because Mr. Bruckheimer's name is attatched to this, that doesn't matter.....dude. Because of the writer's strike and other
things like writing the script, casting, and other typical delays, who knows if this will actually happen. But seriously.
Who's still going to see this even if it tanks? :) Yours truly.
Other less exciting and far less interesting news......Ron Howard pretty much has his 'Angels and Demons' script finished
and in hand and plans to start filming in February. GAG. Tom Hanks is back as Robert Langdon in this 'Da Vinci Code' prequel.
Casting has also begun....BUT according to Variety, although the book was written before 'Da Vinci Code' and takes place before
'Da Vinci Code', the film will be a sequel and take place after 'Da Vinci Code'. Whatever. Who's whacked out idea was this?
I can see many fans of Dan Brown getting rocks in hand to throw at Mr. Howard in anger for screwing with the book.....who
really cares though? Seriously? Not cool. I hated both the 'Da Vinci Code' book and film, and not solely because I firmly
believe that Dan Brown is on crack and is screwed in the head to believe those things he wrote. And I don't believe that
solely because I'm Catholic. Kudos to Mr. Howard for the film though which was much more Catholic friendly than the book;
he watered it down to not offend people so much and to make it very much less anti-Catholic. Smart move. I don't hate Ron
Howard; I loved 'A Beautiful Mind', I just hate Dan Brown and his ludicrous stories. Oh well. I don't like them I don't
have to read the rest of the books or see the films. Simple as that.

10/19/07-Be afraid. Be very afraid. Hide in fear. That remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds' is a go, and Michael
Bay is invovled. WTF. (!!!!!!!!!!!) Ok. Hold on. He's only producing. Hallelujah praise the Lord. Can you imagine if
he were directing? We'd be screwed. Goodbye film. It might actually be a remake or new adaptation of the book that inspired
Mr. Hitchcock's film, and not an actual update of the old film, though. Naomi Watts is on board in Tippi Hedren's old role,
and supposedly Martin Campbell is directing. Well, he's a good pick. He did 'Casino Royale'. :) Yes there were some duds
he directed, but he did wonders for James Bond, so his mark on this film would be promising. However, Michael Bay....I shudder.
source: Variety, RottenTomatoes
10/18/07-That 'Wolverine' film has a title and a release date for all you comic geeks; it shall be called 'X-Men Origins:
Wolverine'. Hmmm, sounds a bit like they're taking a leaf out of the 'Heroes' book. It also leaves the door open for many
more origin tales in the future (we've already heard rumors about a Magneto film). If you simply cannot wait to see this
then hang onto your bright yellow Spandex pants, because it wil be a while before you get your film. May 1, 2009 to be exact.
I know. That's a long time from now. Cry me a river. The delightful Sir Ian McKellen is hoping to be brought back to Middle
Earth whenever 'The Hobbit' finally gets made. He says he's waiting for the call that turns him into Gandalf again whether
or not Peter Jackson is directing the film. I know there have been rumors saying that Mr. Jackson and New Line Cinema have
ironed out their issues but I say, let rumors be and don't take anything for truth until one of the people involved comes
out and says it's done for himself. I also know that Sam Raimi has been said to be the next director for the film. Eh, we'll
see what happens. Either way, the film looks more likely than it did last month and it looks as if we'll have our Gandalf
again. DarkHorizons is reporting that Mr. Raimi says that he's not actually the director yet; there is none, but he hopes
it will be Mr. Jackson. If not, he says he would gladly do it, but Peter gets first say. Good man. There is also talk of
more 'Saw' films at said movie site. Dude. Cut it out. Enough. Quit with the torture porn. Pete's sake. And I though
that Jigsaw guy died? Oh well, I'm not in charge.....whatever sells.......And you know that 'Star Trek' movie J.J. Abrams
is making? Yeah? Supposedly some remake or prequel thing to the early William Shatner films. I never talked about it because,
well, we all know I don't like sci-fi, 'Star Trek' included. But something caught my eye last week at Zap2it.....the newest,
and seemingly nearly final, cast list. Check it out (and I apologize, I have no idea who half the characters here are): Zachary
Quinto (Sylar on 'Heroes' and the wonderful Adam on '24' season three who put up with Chloe's bitching and Kim's emotional
issues) is Spock (I can see that); John Cho is Sulu (? whoever); Karl Urban (from 'Lord of the Rings' and Keith Urban's little-?-brother)
is Leornard McCoy; Chris Pine is Captain Kirk; and-get this, this is what made me pause-Simon Pegg (!!!!!!) is Scotty (haha
that I can see too). So. Just because Simon Pegg is here, don't expect me to rush out and see this film. I don't care for
'Star Trek', but better 'Star Trek' than 'Star Wars'. That's it for now. I will try to update more often. Promise.

10/8/07-Ok. If December won't come soon enough, next summer is going to take even longer to get here. Have you heard
about the latest Tom Cruise film? Not 'Lions for Lambs', the other one, 'Valkyrie'. Waltzing to us next June. Originally
it was supposed to be released August 8 next summer but joy! was moved up. So why am I telling you this? Why am I excited?
Well have you seen the cast listing for this film? Now. Seriously. I swear, someone in the parallel universe of film loves
me. A lot. Don't believe me yet? Look at the cast photo:

Recognize anyone? You should. If you don't, who are you and where have you been? There's Kevin McNally, Kenneth Brannagh,
and Bill Nighy! And of course Tom Cruise. From left to right: Kevin McNally (from 'Pirates' and 'Phantom of the Opera' :)
), Christian Berkel, Bill Nighy (seriously, if you don't know him you need help), Tom Cruise, Terrence Stamp, David Schofield
(Mr. Mercer from 'Pirates'! Looking considerably better here than in those films), and Kenneth Brannagh (who has gained a
lot of weight I see; he's for all you thespos out there, and yes he was in 'Harry Potter 2'). I also hear that Carice van
Houten, Eddie Izzard, Stephen Fry, Tom Wilkinson, and Tom Hollander (also from 'Pirates'; he's fantastic, I like him; he's
brilliant) are starring! Mini 'Pirates' reunion! Patrick Wilson (from 'Phantom') was supposed to be in the film as well
but had to drop because of scheduling conflicts. Shame. Seriously. I don't see any way that I'm missing this film next
June. Really. And now it's coming out two months sooner! What did I tell you? Someone somewhere loves me......
source: Wikipedia's movie section; they seem to have most of the information of this film, including this picture, but
RottenTomatoes also has some info. But not the photo.
10/1/07-First bit (second if you count the Lois Maxwell memorium) for October. Happy scary movie month! Do you like
you some Larry McMurtry? If you do then CBS has something to tell you. Have you seen the movie (it might have been a made
for TV movie) of 'Lonesome Dove'? CBS has not only made a made for TV movie about its prequel 'Comanche Moon', it's even
set a date for you for the premier. It will be a mini series (which is what 'Lonesome Dove' was I think; I don't remember)
which will be six hours, starting December 30 and continuing January 1 and 2. I read 'Lonesome Dove' last spring; oh my goodness
never again. I swear it's the longest frikin book I have ever had to read. I HATED it. I'm not kidding. Never again.
NEVER. My professor who made me read it loved it; go figure. He also gave lauds to the prequel book 'Comanche Moon', which
also follows the exploits of Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call as they begin their lives as Texas Rangers. They're younglings
here, not the old folks they are in the following book. Karl Urban is Call and Steve Zahn is Gus, filling the shoes of Tommy
Lee Jones (I LOVE him. He's the most brilliant amazing actor ever.) and Robert Duvall (also very brilliant amazing), respectively.
If I had my way, Mr. Jones would have been Gus and Mr. Duvall Call; I thought they were miscast in 'Lonesome Dove' (same
professor also made us watch part of the film! Hooray!). I don't know about you, but I'm not too excited. 'Comanche Moon'
is directed by the same guy who directed 'Dove', Simon Wincer, and Mr. McMurtry himself and Diana Ossana adapted the novel,
as they did 'Dove'. And yes they also wrote the script for 'Brokeback Mountain', that cinematic gem by the sublime Ang Lee
which got unjustly hated and scorned but which you should have seen and if you didn't I will curse you for eternity because
it is amazing and fantastic and simply poetic. You did see it, right? Please tell me you did.

9/26/07-Make Katie Happy week continues......I wonder who's behind this? The phenomenal, uber-talented, super awesome
Clint Eastwood is looking to direct a rugby film about the Rugby World Cup in South Africa and how its presence there helped
heal the post-apartheid stricken nation. Morgan Freeman (I like him too, he's cool) is starring, as is (supposedly) Matt
Damon (I'm neutral on him). I admit, I have only seen one non-Western Clint Eastwood movie ('Space Cowboys', which I didn't
care for), so shoot me. But this one has greatness written all over it. I mean, come on, it's Clint Eastwood! I can't see
this film flopping. Sigh. So he's not nearly so hot as he was in his Sergio Leone days, but oh well. Who cares. Expect
me to see this film. You can count on it. So how about some more 'Terminator' films? Try three more. Or at least that's
the plan; IGN has it posted that some big shot at Fox (James Middleton, whoever that is) says plan for a fourth in 2009 and
two more after that. Huh? OK guys, seriously, enough with the old (as in 80's, 90's, etc. old) film sequels and such. Who
else thinks that Hollywood is strapped for film ideas? Must be, instead of new fresh films we get old retired genre repeats
and sequels. No more thank you. Casting and everything's an open question, apparently. If you're interested head to IGN
to check it out yourself. I can't talk about this anymore. And in case you're also interested, that 'Wolverine' film has
a director. I don't like superhero films, but I did like the 'X-Men' films. Great actors, and the story had heart. And
the films never felt cheesy. Gavin Hood is signed to direct. The film is set to release sometime in 2008. Steven Spielberg
(who I admire and used to really like when I was ten, but got old and don't like sci-fi) is directing a film about Abraham
Lincoln and based on a book about how he helped the North in the Civil War and his role in the war. Guess who's Lincoln?
Liam Neeson......huh. Uh, not my pick......he doesn't even look like him and the accent......hmmmm. And guess who's writing
the script? Tony Kushner......(yes he was the guy who wrote 'Angels in America', THAT play...which was good. Don't knock
it.) THAT should be interesting. Sally Field is Mary Todd....not my pick either. I like her, but not who I would have play
the First Lady. Oh well. I'm not in charge. Eh, we'll see what becomes of it. 'X-Files' rumors continue, speaking of old
and dead films....my beloved RottenTomatoes says that David Duchovny is claiming that he has the script for the next film
in hand and shooting begins in December. And that he and everybody else involved in the film want to keep this a secret,
shhhh, so don't go talking about it. That would be why he hasn't given too much detail on the happenings of the film, what
it's about, etc. But he says we'll get the film, but he wants it all to be a surprise, so they're pulling a '24' and keeping
mum on the story and plot and script and characters etc. so that we'll get it fresh and feel new and everything. Enough already.
And finally, RottenTomatoes has also heard from a site called Slashfilm that yes indeed giant robot lovers you will have
your 'Transformers' sequel, probably as early as 2009. And Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg have signed on for said film.
Ugggggg nooooooooo. Ok, OK, I never saw the one that came out this summer, so I shouldn't judge. But robots aren't really
my thing, I hate sci-fi, and I don't care for automechanics and cars and such; put all three together and you get what might
be a film I would call my least favorite. Ha, put all three together and you get 'Transformers'! I apologize if there is
more to the movie than that, but really; oh well. Wouldn't like it, didn't see it. Simple as that. Same goes for a sequel.

9/24/07-Dude! What is this? This is like 'please Katie week' or something. Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are reuniting
for another film, due next year. I guess Edgar Wright isn't a part of this film, but I can deal. Their film is titled 'Paul'
and supposedly it's about two British geeky friends road trippin' in the States. It will be filmed here. There's no director
yet, so perhaps Mr. Wright might join? Perhaps not, but we can dream! That's all we know for know, but I'll bet I'll need
an oxygen mask I'll be laughing so hard when I see this. These guys are just perfect. Hysterical. I love them!! You know
I adore 'Fuzz'. Heck yeah. What with the Tony/'24' news and this one, I think someone is trying to get on my good side somewhere.
Thank you!!! (maybe perhaps my dearly beloved Bill Nighy will star in this next Frost/Pegg development, yes? please and
thank you.)

9/17/07- Wow. I have not added anything in a long time. But now I have lots to add. Where to start? 'Harry Potter'
seems a good place. I have heard happy news. Jim Broadbent (who's quite fantastic) is joining the cast of the next two 'Potter'
films (apparently he's also in 'Indiana Jones 4' which comes next summer, but I didn't know this until now. But there you
are.) Woooo! He's Horace Slughorn, the Defense Against the Darks Arts professor who turns Potions professor in the final
book (if I remember correctly......the last time I read 'Half-Blood Prince' was like two years ago.). I think he'll be great.
I'm excited......And speaking briefly about 'Indiana Jones 4'. it has a title! It is now officially 'Indiana Jones and the
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'. I don't like it. But I'm not in charge. So I guess I'll have to deal. Wonder who's going
to be the next Bond girl? So do I. But apparently it isn't going to be anyone Swedish, or R&B singer Amy Winehouse.
Barbara Broccoli says that she wants someone Latino. Well, that helps us out. Yup. And some TV/film news.......Quentin
Tarantino has said 'no thanks' to an opportunity to direct an episode or two of 'Heroes'. He said he doesn't watch the show,
so why would he work with it if he doesn't watch it? Good point, sir. I don't watch it either. I also don't like QT. His
films are.......gross. That's an understatement. Not for me. Here's more Bond news......it sounds as if the people in charge
of Mr. Bond want some sort of an origin tale for him. I guess they're trying to make a film about him when he was young,
and from what RottenTomatoes says this idea has been around a while. And guess who wants to do it? Harry Potter. Mr. Radcliffe
is saying 'yes please' and the Bond people are saying 'we want him' and when that happens you know a movie is inevitable.
Apparently someone somewhere wrote a bunch of books about James when he was a young lad at Eton College and now people are
wanting a movie made about them. Yeah, no thanks. Let's leave Mr. Bond alone the way he is. Still can't wait for 'Bond
22' next fall....someone hold me down! Mr. Paul Haggis also came forth again saying the next Bond will be a serious one,
not a funny one. Thank you. And also Mr. White will be back, as well as the same actor who played him in 'Casino Royale'
(oh, what is his name??). I also hear the film opens on a '24'-esque interrogation scene with James and Mr. White.....ug.
If there's one thing I CAN NOT stand in movies it's torture. But so it goes. And as for sequel films and such.....Michael
Bay hints that there might be more 'Transformers', at least, he wants to do more. NOOOOOOOOOOO. I beg you if you love your
people no more giant robot movies!!!! Clearly he doesn't care about the critics. If he did there would be no more. I'm
very incredibly jealous of the people at Comingsoon.net; they got to talk to Geoffrey Rush about the new 'Elizabeth' film
(I never saw the first one, but someday.....). And they weaseled out some 'Pirates 4' info from him. Well, there wasn't
much to say, really. :( He said he's sure they'll do more, doesn't see why not. But he says that it won't happen for a while,
and we'll probably have to wait a while for any more. Ready? One, two, three.....BOOOOOOOOOOOO. I would like more 'Pirates'
films, please and thank you. If you love me......ah well. Life is cruel. Why should Hollywood be any different? That's
all for now.....waiting in eager anticipation for next fall and still wondering about 'Indiana 4'; will it really be any good?
I don't think it can match the greatness of the original three, but we shall see. We shall see.

8/27/07-I'm slacking in the news department, I see. But to make up for it (hopefully) here is some Bond 22 news for ya.
Paul Haggis says he's back for polishing the script for this one, as he did 'Casino Royale', and he says it's totally new
and original. It's based on Ian Fleming's ideas but not on any stories or books he wrote. He also says that this next film
is not a comedy (thank goodness) and that it begins only minutes after 'Royale' ended. Should be interesting. Sounds like
James Bond is going to be having a Jack Bauer sort of day. Also, rumor is that a three disk 'Casino Royale' coming to us
middle of next year.....and I don't know about you but I can't wait until next fall for this next Bond. Oooooo.

8/10/07-A bit of minor 'Hobbit' news; so perhaps maybe Peter Jackson is directing 'The Hobbit' after all. Or at least
that is the rumor going around. You remember the spat he's been having with New Line Cinema and how he threatened to never
work with them again and they threatened to get someone else to do 'The Hobbit'; Sam Raimi's name has been attached to the
film for a while now. That scares me; the 'Spider-man' guy doing 'The Hobbit'? Uh, no please. New Line claims to be very
much ready to go ahead with the film and is trying to amend things with the Rings man so that he can direct again. I would
love nothing more than for PJ to do the film, but we'll see. I don't see this likely because of the row between New Line and
Mr. Jackson, but maybe everyone will get over themselves and things will be well. Oh and a bit of TV DVD news for ya; season
six of '24' is out December 4. See? Didn't I tell you that's what would happen?
source: Comingsoon
7/26/07-Minor DVD news; a final cut of 'Blade Runner' will grace our store shelves on December 18. It is assumed that
this is the FINAL and complete cut of the film; it is the REAL director's cut (remember the 'director's cut' of a few years
ago, the one that Ridley Scott himself was so against and the one he was all to happy to tell people he did not want and was
not the real, authentic director's cut?). Expect extended/added scenes, deleated scenes to be reinstated, better effects,
and lots of extras goodies. Apparently it will be better remastered than the other cuts and a better film. I wonder then
if this new footage and scenes will make the film easier to understand? I've seen the film multiple times and I keep wanting
to write a review of it but, dammit, the film is just too blasted confusing. I don't think anyone really understands it,
not even Mr. Scott himself. It is a good film though and I am curious to see how it was all originally supposed to be before
the cutting room and MPAA got to it. You know I don't like science fiction but my curiosity has won and I'm waiting patiently
for my questions to be answered. Then you can expect a review from me. If we're lucky. Also, 'Pirates 3' is on DVD December
4....get excited......somehow I don't think this day will come soon enough. The film waltzes in only a day later than it's
preceeding film did last year (December 5). And sadly no news on when season 6 of '24' is due on DVD. Waah boo. But I'm
thinking it will be December 4 or sometime around there.....season 5 came to us December 5 last year, so if the pattern follows
as it is with 'Pirates'......see? There is competition in the movie world for my affections. But there is no competition.
'24' wins anytime.
7/25/07-Sometimes rumors aren't really rumors because they turn out to be very true. Naomi Watts, who was rumored to
be in 'Harry Potter 6' (the film) is most definitely in the next film. I believe 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'
is due out in theaters sometime next year (I want to say the summer) and is being directed by David Yates, who just released
'Harry Potter 5'. Miss Watts is going to be playing Narcissa Malfoy, Draco's mommy. And no wonder; she seems like she'd
fit the part very well. Another interesting casting note; Joseph Fiennes is also joining the cast; interesting because his
big brother Ralph plays You-Know-Who in the 'Potter' films. So I wonder then if Joseph will be playing the young Tom Riddle
we met in the book or if he will be playing his father? (remember Tom Riddle became Voldemort) Stuart Townsend is also joining,
but as I have no idea who he is I don't find this significant. I can't tell you who'll be playing the other Death Eaters
in the film or Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour or the new Potions Master Horace Slughorn, but it can't be either Fiennes
the younger or Mr. Townshend because both characters are far too old. But we'll see. And we'll see how the next film turns
out, because it's the most depressing book of the lot so far (I'm not finished reading 'Deathly Hallows' yet).

7/17/07-You know how much I love James Bond....So maybe the seriousness of 'Casino Royale' (last year's version) was a
one-time thing. According to Mr. Bond himself (Mr. Daniel Craig) James is going to be funnier from now on. More along the
lines of Roger Moore and not so much Sean Connery. 'The producers just want more gags. The next one's going to be a lot
funnier. Octopussy and Pussy Galore style gags. They're all great names--but that's the thing; the Bond jokes will be flipped
on their heads.' So is Mr. Craig saying then that the jokes will be more clever and witty than goofy and silly? I don't
entirely know what he means here. I kind of liked the gritty feel of the newest Bond film; but then, there's nothing like
a bit of Bond humor. Oh and changing the subject, all those rumors about continued Indiana Jones films? (as in say, four
more?) Nope, says LucasFilm. The fourth is the last; there will be no more. And what about someone taking over Harrison
Ford's role as the famed archaeologist? No way, says the film company. Nope, we're done. Oh and Bond 22 is scheduled for
Nov.7 next year and Bond 23 is scheduled for a 2010 release. Wut now.
News bits: some random news stuff floating around; Danny Boyle of 'Trainspotting' and both '28' films (ie '28 Days/Weeks
Later') says a second '28 Days' sequel story is fermenting in his brain; but don't expect anything, he's not sure he'll do
it. But if he does the story will be set in Russia.
So there has been much talk of a second 'X-Files' film (big fan of the show; never saw the film) and according to Mulder
(David Duchovny) it is a go and he is getting a script next week, and the film will be released next summer. Gillian Anderson
and Chris Carter are on board supposedly as well. But Fox says 'no movie, only rumors' still......hmmmmmmm.......
What's this about a 'Cars' sequel? Apparently someone somewhere heard from some source that there will be a sequel to
last year's Pixar film and it will come out in 2011. Whenever someone somewhere hears something from someone who heard something
from someone else you know it's not true. Or very unlikely.
And finally, apparently Brian Glazer and Brett Ratner are planning a Hugh Hefner bio-pic and Leo DiCaprio is going to
be cast as our man himself. The thought of Leo as Mr. Hefner is frightening enough, but a bio film about Playboy's head man?
That makes me want to hide in fear. And superhero film director Brett Ratner directing? What is the world coming to?
source: RottenTomatoes
7/7/07-You've heard this before last summer and you heard it again this spring, but there has been considerably more talk
on a 'Pirates 4' film. Woot! Yeah! Well, we shall see....take this with as much salt as you can stand, but remember there
were rumors a couple of years back about a 'Pirates 2 and 3' and that was very much true....All the same, here is what is
being tossed around so far. Latest rumors are plot focused, and four hints have been dropped so far:
1. Jack is back (uh, duh) and Mr. Depp could recieve up to $40 million for his work in a forth film (although I'm sure
he would do a forth film for nil if offered)
2. Geoffrey Rush ( :) cool) and Gore Verbinski will be back (and I assume that means Jerry Bruckheimer as well)
3. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are finis (aww...I was starting to like Will) and so will not return
4. Not only is the Fountain of Youth idea being used, but also something akin to Jules Verne is being contemplated (namely
giant flying machines-and I hope they drop this), a trip to Atlantis is in store (might turn out cool), and the most dangerous
pirate of all is yet to be introduced (who can be worse than who we've already met?)
We shall see on the Jules Verne thing; it sounds like it might work, but I'm wary all the same. But these film creators
have a way of taking a story I'm wary of and making it work (namely, 'Pirates' in Singapore and the trip to the end of the
world had me cautious, yet these worked in film 3, I believe). You know how much I'd love more 'Pirates' (plus there'd be
no need to be afraid of dear Davy making an appearance anymore), but still, these are rumors, so keep your shirt on. We shall
see. If anything happens it won't be for another year or two at least. Hang on there.

7/07/07-Apparently there might be a remake of Steve McQueen's brilliant 'Bullitt', starring Brad Pitt in the title role.
And apparently this will be Mr. Pitt's project. All together now: BOOOOOOOOO. It's not that I don't like Brad Pitt, he's
a fine actor and everything, but why oh WHY would you take such a fantastic film with such a fantastic actor and redo it?
NOOOOOOOOOO. I don't want to believe it. The original was fantastic. And NO ONE will ever replace Steve McQueen in his
role in the film. Brad Pitt must be crazy. If he does do it, all I have to say is it had better be good or else. Consider
this your only warning, Mr. Pitt. Make it good or face unthinkable consequences. The way I see it, there are two reasons
why films are remade. One, the original was so pathetic someone said, 'I can do better'. Usually they do. The other is
that those who do the remakes are so enamored and adoring of the original and it's creators that they wish to do homage to
the original film. Or, heaven forbid, the remakers want credit for the film and want their name on history. So they remake
a film. Clearly this is admiration and not the other. But still. You can't perfect perfection.

6/10/07-So, sadly, Sean Connery is not going to join Harrison Ford and crew for 'Indiana Jones IV'. It's a shame, really,
the pair were fantastic, absolutely perfectly matched in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'. Oh well. That's the way it
goes, I guess. Mr. Connery said, and I quote:
'I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about
it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven
and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just
too damned much fun.
I do, however, have one bit of advice for Junior: demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness
sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt co-ordinator! This is a remarkable
cast, and I can only say, "Break a leg, everyone". I'll see you on May 22, 2008 at the theater!'
Retirement had better be that fun to leave us, sir. Gotta love him though. I have to say, I'm a HUGE Indiana Jones fan,
and I was a little skeptical about a fourth film (still am, actually). But then, I was skeptical about a second and third
'Pirates' film and they didn't fail to disappoint. But I don't know about Indiana; I don't think these films like me as much
as my pirates do; will it sucker me into liking it in the end and try to win my affections as 'At World's End' did? (*ahem*-Davy
Jones....), but I'll reserve judgement until after I see the film.
