Here are various links to sites about film and film criticism that I enjoy and you might like as well.
Fun little site, good if you'd like to be a critic and would like to start small (which is probably a good idea). Friendly
site.
A slick film site which also does TV and DVD. Great for answers on when a certain film will arrive on DVD or theaters. Excellent
for news; I check this site daily. Great reviews on films and interesting opinions. Do give it a look.
One of the best and best looking sites around. Has just about everything (even branches away from film and TV and does gaming
and music, if you are interested--not for me though). Very good.
Absolutely hysterical. What happens when clever movie loving people have too much time on their hands. My favorites are
'Pirates', 'King Kong', and 'James Bond'. I love this site.
THE quintessential film site. Navigation is a little tricky, but you won't be disappointed. Has anything and everything
on just about every film, including awesome links and trivia; fantastic.
Not great for film, but excellent for TV. The TV columns are very nice. Good for TV news. And it does basic film stuff
like reviews.
A very good, very entertaining site with excellent film reviews. Unfortunately they don't update very often and they
have not reviewed some very worthy films, but you should visit them anyways. One of my favorite sites. Pretty much only
film reviews, but that doesn't matter. UPDATE 1/29/08: These guys have stopped updating for some reason. And it makes me
sad.
An interesting site, not much for news or reviews but for film information such as production and history it's very good.
I used this a lot when I had to write research papers on films and film history.
A very good film site, similar to IGN but a little different content and layout. Has great actor/director/etc. interviews.
Good for news.
Might be my favorite film critic; I don't always agree with him but I enjoy reading his reviews and opinions. He knows what
he's doing (duh.....). Mr. Ebert is brilliant.
A very good, fairly basic film site. Has more than just film. Simple and clean but sleek layout. UPDATE 1/29/08: This
site has changed it's layout, and I don't like it. I miss the old one. But the site itself is still the same.
Probably my favorite film site out there; RottenTomatoes is brilliant. I love it. For film reviews and how films do after
being presented to the world it can't be matched. The best for news and photos and reviews. Really superb. I go here daily
as well.
Hysterical. Really, really brilliant. The way the reviews are written is wicked. There aren't too many here, and it's missing
some great ones, but it makes up for it. It's so funny. Go visit the site now. I love it.
A very good and entertaining site with great film reviews. Ok for news; go here for the reviews. They're funny and honest
and a great read.
These guys are wicked funny. They have great reviews and great news. They do books as well as films and DVDs and they
have more than just film stuff here. Check out their celeb interviews; some of them are priceless. These guys are a bit.....weird,
and their layout is a little creepy, but it's worth a look. Strange, foulmouthed, and at times deeply disturbing and very
wrong, but a great site anyways.
A good site for pics, trailers, and film info; lacks some important films but has all the recent ones. Can't get reviews,
but it's a nice, friendly site, user friendly, easy navigation, and a snappy layout. WARNING: Slow loading. At times painfully
slow. And sometimes it's completely unresponsive. But I still like it. UPDATE 1/29/08: This site has been changed dramatically,
and I'm sorry to say, I don't like it quite as much. I much preferred the old layout. But, faster loading, and more films
in exchange. Ah well. We can't have it all.
Dude. Go here. Seriously. I'm not kidding. This site is amazing. Awesome. The guy who runs it puts up still frames
from a bunch of movies and some TV shows, and I don't just mean a couple pics here and there, I mean the ENTIRE FILM, just
about every single still frame from the whole film. How does he do this? There aren't many films or shows here, which is
understandable because I'm sure this is no easy task. But really. He has 'Casino Royale' and ALL THREE 'Pirates' films!
If you need a pic from a certain film go here; the film might not be here but if it is, it's heaven. Be sure you check
out the stills for 'Pirates 2' and '3'. And pay attention to detail (i.e. the expressions on the character's faces). I don't
think I ever laughed so hard in my life. I have a new appreciation for those films now. :)
I added this because it's simply fantastic. As you might guess, it's all about 'Pirates 3' and nothing else. There's not
much news on the film, but it has some info about the film, such as trivia, soundtrack info, etc. But go here for the pictures.
It has just about every still pic from the film but it also has a lot of other pics that I haven't seen anywhere else, not
on the web, not on the official Disney site, nowhere. And there are a lot. Rare pics are a specialty, but every pic is great.
Really brilliant site. Good layout and easy navigation. I don't think it's updated anymore though. But go here anyways
and be amazed.
A nice, simple, user-friendly site. Mostly film reviews with some news, but has a big Asian film section (which is the first
I have seen anywhere) and while it's a little hard to find specific reviews, it's a friendly and nicely laid out site. And
it's not too overpacked with info that it's difficult to navigate.
